Franklin County residents share why they chose to get COVID-19 vaccine


Residents across Franklin County have been scheduling their appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at WellSpan Health s pop-up clinic.
Located at the Chambersburg Mall s former Burlington store, nurses have been seeing a steady flow of locals coming through the doors for their first dose.
For many, this is the key to getting back to normalcy. 
Viri Reyes, 38, of Chambersburg, said she just wanted to make sure she got the shot so she can look forward to seeing her loved ones again. 
Getting together with family is a major one, she said. That s my first concern.
The clinic was an overall good experience, Reyes said, but understands it isn t something everyone wants to do. ....

Premise of Netflix film 'I Care A Lot' could happen in PA


Netflix s popular new film  I Care a Lot tells the shocking tale of a woman who improperly assumes legal guardianship of elderly people, taking control of their lives and selling off their assets to enrich herself. 
In the film, Marla Grayson, played by Rosamund Pike, owns a guardianship firm and seeks out clients to bring under her care especially those who have little family and sizable assets.
The story is highly dramatized, but it raises questions about vulnerable seniors. Can elderly Pennsylvanians improperly lose their agency through court order?
In Pennsylvania, a professional or family guardian may be appointed by a court when an adult of any age is deemed incapacitated. Waynesboro police officer resigns, charged with sexual assault of minor


On Dec. 10, Sublett was interviewed at the PSP Chambersburg station. He confirmed he met the victim while responding to a medical emergency.
Sublett identified himself as a role-model figure for the victim and said he would check up on her at the victim s mother s request, according to court documents. He denied ever contacting the victim through text messages or giving her a cell phone.
He immediately terminated the interview when the nature of the allegation was discussed, police said. 
Sublett was placed on administrative leave by the chief of the Waynesboro Police Department on the night of Dec. 10. He resigned on Jan. 5. ....
