Wild pot-bellied pigs wreaking havoc in the streets of Puerto Rico

Thousands of Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs are running amok in Puerto Rico and citizens fear they’re going to reproduce like jackrabbits.
The beasts, which can weigh up to a hefty 250 pounds, are knocking over trash cans, tearing up gardens and leaving odorous trails of waste on their way to bathe and feed, reported The Associated Press on Thursday.
The animals, the descendants of former pets, are multiplying at such an alarming rate that the island declared a health emergency in 2019.
And it’s gotten so dire that animal teams from the southern U.S. have been called in to extricate the problematic porkers. Over a four-day period in August, 500 pigs were captured barely denting the crisis. ....
