The Ranchi railway division came under fire after it was announced that the Ranchi-Jaynagar Express will be extended up to Rourkela. RANCHI: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Wednesday asked the South Eastern Railways (SER) to ensure that passengers from Ranchi can get bookings in the Rourkela-Jaynagar-Rourkela special train, which will begin its operations from Thursday. Seth, who attended the annual divisional committee meeting of Ranchi and Chakradhapur divisions of SER in Rourkela along with Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto and Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda, also advocated the running of Kisan Rail to facilitate the vegetable sellers of Lohardaga and of other parts and the running of Rajdhani and Garib Rath express trains through the Lohardaga-Tori route. ....
‘Meri Saheli’ initiative of Railways implemented in all zones: Goyal By IANS| Published: 11th February 2021 1:57 am IST New Delhi, Feb 10 : With a focus on women safety, the Indian Railways has spread the ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative in all its zones, Parliament was told on Wednesday. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the initiative, aimed to provide safety and security to woman passengers for their entire journey, was launched as a pilot project by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) across the South Eastern Railway in trains originating there. “Considering its success in instilling a sense of security among women passengers, this initiative has been rolled over to all zonal railways across Indian Railways’ network from October 17 last year,” he said. ....
Ranchi: State finance minister Rameshwar Oraon requested the Centre to consider granting an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Ranchi to boost technical education in the state. He also wrote to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman to approve the 790-km road project under the Bharatmala scheme to link Sahibganj-Dumka-Dhanbad-Purulia-Chandil-Bahragora and Dhamra port in Odisha to create a special corridor to facilitate smooth movement of goods. Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday in Ranchi, Oraon said he also offered other suggestions during a video-interaction with Sitaraman ahead of the Union budget. “An IIT in Ranchi will further boost the education sector in this state and tribal students will have an opportunity to avail world-class technical studies. We currently don’t have enough technical institutes of national and international repute here,” said Oraon. Notably, ISM Dhanbad was granted an IIT status by Union government couple of years back. ....
