Migrant, 24, drowned at Dover in bid to reunite with his brother crossing Channel, inquest hears

A migrant may have accidentally drowned when trying to reunite with his brother who was detained crossing the Channel by small boat on the same day, an inquest heard.
Sudanese national Omar Ezeldin Ali, 24, was attempting to claim asylum in the UK when he was seen walking into the sea fully clothed at Dover Harbour, Kent on August 20 last year.
Concerned members of the public threw buoyancy aids in after seeing him shout for help before disappearing under the crashing waves.
A huge search and rescue operation was launched just before 1pm with the aid of a coastguard helicopter to no avail. ....

An asylum seeker drowned off the coast of Kent on the day his brother arrived in a dinghy, an inquest heard.
Omar Ezildin Ali, who had been in the UK since 2016, was seen struggling in the water near Dover on 20 August.
A search and rescue operation was launched, but found no sign of him and his body was discovered later that day.
Coroner Katrina Hepburn said Mr Ali may have been attempting to reunite with his brother who was also coming into the country on the same day . ....

An asylum seeker drowned after wading into the sea on the day his brother had arrived in the UK.
Omar Ezildin Ali was seen struggling in the water and shouting for help at Dover Harbour.

It is thought he was overcome by currents, an inquest heard today.
A coroner was told that Mr Ali had come all the way from Wales.
And on the day he died his brother had been intercepted trying to enter the UK by boat at Dover and detained. ....

The family of a pensioner found dead almost a fortnight after discharging herself from hospital may never know exactly how she died, an inquest has heard.

An inquest at County Hall in Maidstone today heard the 76-year-old widow had been brought to the A&E ward of the hospital by police in the early hours of August 1.
Officers had found her in a confused state at her home in Western Avenue, Ashford, during a welfare check after a neighbour said they had not seen her all day. ....
