Concerns raised over mass failure of students; demand for reintroduction of double valuation
Teachers of English language and literature in colleges under the Calicut University have appealed to the varsity authorities to restructure the M.A. English question paper pattern in view of the mass failure in its recent first semester examination.
The teachers have also sought an end to the existing disparity in question paper pattern followed in autonomous colleges and other affiliated colleges. Currently, Calicut University follows a different question paper format for M.A. English in autonomous colleges, the University Department of English and government, aided and self-financing colleges. ....

Kerala polls: 'Metroman' E Sreedharan fielded from Palakkad by the BJP

Metroman E Sreedharan will make his electoral debut from Palakkad in the April 6 assembly polls, while BJP state president K Surendran will contest from two constituencies, including Konni, the epicentre of the Sabarimala stir in 2018.
The BJP, which willbe contesting in 115 of the 140 constituencies, released its candidates list for 112 seats in New Delhi on Sunday.
Twenty five seats have been given to its four NDA allies BDJS (Bharath Dharma Jana Sena), AIADMK,Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha (JRS) and Kamaraj Congress, party general secretary Arun Singh told the mediain Delhi.

A United Democratic Front-backed Syndicate member has urged the Governor to seek a report from the Calicut University Vice Chancellor on the execution of reservation norms for differently abled persons in the appointment of faculty members of various departments.
In a letter to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who is also the Chancellor of the university, P. Rasheed Ahammed said four backlog vacancies existed as per university records for the differently abled in the cadre of assistant professors. The backlog in the posts of associate professor and professor had not been identified as yet. Mr. Ahammed alleged that the university took a unilateral decision to issue a notification for ....
