Environmental Defence holds day of action against 413 plan

As the Government of Ontario continues to prepare and plan for two new highways through farmland and the Greenbelt, groups took action this past week.
A day of action was held to protest the GTA West Corridor (Highway 413) and the Holland Marsh Highway (Bradford Bypass) on Saturday, July 24.
Protests were held across the regions that would be impacted by these highways. They took place in Caledon, King-Vaughan, Simcoe, Brampton, Mississauga, and Oakville and photos spread all over social media with the hashtags #NoMoreHighways, #Stopthe413, and #StoptheBradfordBypass.
Environmental Defence a Canadian environmental advocacy organization has been a key cog in organizing protests to inform residents of the impact of the impending situation. Their concerns are that, if built, the highways would pave over farms, forests, wetlands, and a portion of the Greenbe ....

For the “No More Highways” Day of Action this past Saturday (July 24), supporters of “Stop the 413” gathered outside of Dufferin–Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones Office on Broadway and marched down to the weekly Farmers Market held by the Orangeville BIA.
The protest was led by federal Green Party candidate for Dufferin–Caledon Jenni Le Forestier, who was instrumental in bringing about the federal environmental assessment that’s currently ongoing for the 413, as well as Laura Campbell, who’s the provincial Green Party Candidate for the local riding.
A total of eight demonstrations took place across communities impacted by the proposed highway, including Brampton, Bolton, Holland Landing, King Township, Kleinberg, Mississauga, and Oakville. ....

Local Green Party president is working with MP Kyle Seeback on environmental petition
The Dufferin–Caledon Green Party is taking the initiative to support the launch
of a federal petition objecting to the construction of the proposed Erin Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The region’s Green Party has teamed up with environmental activist, Jenni LeForestier of Belfountain to assist with the success of the petition.
The petition is calling for a Federal Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed wastewater treatment plant.
Dufferin–Caledon MP Kyle Seeback is now sponsoring the petition, following a conversation initiated by Dufferin–Caledon Green Party president Stefan Wiesen. The petition is now active within the federal government. ....
