Pelley good evening. This is our western edition. Just a day after canada raised its Terror Threat level, a terrifying scene unfolded in its capital today. Police say a canadianborn gunman identified as a convert to islam, michael zehafbibeau, opened fire in the Parliament Building in ottawa after gunning down a soldier standing watch at the nearby National War Memorial. The soldier was 24yearold nathan cirillo, seen in a photo taken by a tourist this past sunday. The motive for the attack is not clear. We do not know yet whether the gunman had any ties to any terrorist group. We have extensive coverage of this stilldeveloping story. First, well go to jim axelrod in ottawa. Reporter the halls of parliament exploded with gunfire after Security Forces spotted the suspected shooter. Kevin vickers, the sergeant at arms, shot and killed the gunman.
