NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde started the programme in nursing homes in December. Kincaid House resident and former nurse Aileen Hunter was one of the first to receive her jab last month. Plans are in place to deliver the jab to a small number of residents who were not able to get the vaccine in their care home. Arrangements are also being made to vaccinate residents who are housebound. The first people in the over 80 age group received their vaccination today. Further rollout to this age group will continue next week and people will be contacted directly by their GP practice or the health board. ....
THE drive to vaccinate all of the care home residents in Inverclyde against coronavirus is under way. Eighty-seven-year-old Aileen Hunter was one of the first care residents to receive the jab to protect her from Covid-19. The former nurse lives in Kincaid House in Greenock and had the jab as the home became the first establishment in the area to roll out the programme. Her family say they are relieved and delighted after a challenging year. Now they hope they can soon get indoor visits with their mum. Aileen s daughter Louise, who helped lead the community s Covid-19 response during lockdown, said: We are delighted my mum has now been vaccinated. ....
== A GREENOCK care home has been ordered to make urgent improvements to its staffing levels and management of residents’ nutrition following a surprise inspection. Kincaid House was graded as weak for its care and support during the Covid-19 pandemic in a report which has been published by the Care Inspectorate. The watchdog found the staffing levels at the Oakfield Terrace establishment were not sufficient to meet people’s needs and said changes needed to be made to ensure residents had good nutrition and were properly hydrated. Inspectors criticised the management of people’s weight and minimising falls, while highlighting that correct hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) was not always evident. ....
