Temporary Delay from Covid-19 Relaunch Kicks for Kids

FLORENCE â The Listerhill Foundation relaunched its Kicks For Kids program recently with the announcement that it will be providing a new pair of brand name shoes to each child at Harlan Elementary School in Florence. The program began in January of 2020, but had to be put on hold because of COVID-19.Â
Harlan Elementary School principal, Dr. Thomas Casteel, is delighted. He explained, âThis is a tremendous reward for our pupils who have overcome so much this year. They will now have a pair of shoes to carry them through the summer which can be a particularly vulnerable time for many kids.âÂ The shoe drop will take place next month in partnership with California-based, Shoes That Fit. Since their founding in 1992, Shoes That Fit has provided over 2 million pair of shoes to children across the US.Â ....

Imagine MKEannounced the recipients of $700,000 in CARES Act funding for arts and culture organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Imagine MKE, an advocacy organization for the region’s arts sector, received applications for 82 organizations, receiving documentation of over $30 million in losses or expenses incurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic and over $4.4 million in aid requests.
“The need from the culture and arts sector far out paces both the present and projected resources available to support them,” said county executive David Crowley. “The millions in documented losses underscore how the downsizing of this sector of our economy could have far-reaching, long-term effects if not addressed immediately.” ....
