With the Olympic Games set to kick off at the end of July, preparations for the Games are beginning in all sports, not just in swimming. In this series, SwimSwam looks at some of the leading news from outside of swimming as athletes around the world continue to prepare and qualify for the rescheduled Olympic Games which are due to begin in Tokyo on July 23rd, and Paralympic Games, which are scheduled to begin August 24th.

The Chinese government notified the Australian authorities that Yang would face trial on May 27, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said in a statement Friday. Yang was detained in January 2019 on allegations of espionage, according to the statement, which expressed concern about his treatment.
“We have conveyed to Chinese authorities, in clear terms, the concerns we have about Dr Yang’s treatment and the lack of procedural fairness in how his case has been managed,” Payne said. “The Australian Government will continue to advocate strongly for Dr Yang’s rights and interests and to provide consular assistance to Dr Yang and his family. Our thoughts are with them during this extremely difficult period.”
On March 14, he tweeted start or beginnings, and followed it with an end tweet the next day. These posts again hinted at his upcoming return with new music after a long time.
Then, on the next day, it was confirmed that he will, indeed, come back to the K-pop industry.

On March 16, B.I s agency IOK Company announced that the male idol will be launching an album titled Midnight Blue. This will be his first album in approximately two years since he left iKON in June 2019. It will not be a regular album, but instead a donation album as B.I will be donating all of the profits earned, from the sales to copyright royalties, to a non-governmental organization that supports children and youth in need. B.I s album will contain a track titled Midnight Blue.
