The year 2020 was the best and worst of times outdoors. With quarantined Americans driving at least 50 billion fewer miles, our air was markedly cleaner, clearer and healthier. While gun and alcohol sales soared, unprecedented numbers of us found our highs in the great outdoors. Suppliers of outdoor shoes and boots often ran out of stock.
Local hunting and fishing triumphs were many, but environmental defeats were massive as global vision was far from 20/20. Our national leaders failed to constrain or even attempt to address climate change. Invaluable time was lost in stemming habitat exploitation and destruction.
