Kings County DA says texts taken out of context, denies touching


Kings County District Attorney Keith Fagundes this week denied sexual harassment allegations made against him, saying the claimant is exaggerating and misrepresenting statements he made, betraying his trust and the trust of his family.
The claim was filed with Kings County by a 40-year-old male county employee on July 6 alleging numerous incidents beginning in 2018, when the complainant was going through a divorce and staying in an apartment next to Fagundes’ home.
“Now the claim is basically like an insurance claim — this is the first step in which they put the county on notice that there might be something,” said Maggie Mello, Fagundes’ attorney. “A great percentage of these claims never actually get to the filing of a lawsuit, so we’re anticipating one might be filed here, but not necessarily so.” ....

Fagundes faces sexual harassment complaint


Kings County District Attorney Keith Fagundes faces allegations of sexual harassment against a county employee.
The complaint alleges that these incidents began in 2018 when the male complainant was going through a divorce and was staying in an apartment next to Fagundes’ home while going through a divorce. The complaint was filed on July 6.
The complainant reportedly offered to pay rent to Fagundes, which he subsequently refused.
The complaint claims that Fagundes made such inappropriate actions as: Touching, lewd text messages, and discussing his sex life.
“All of Fagundes’ highly improper acts and communications caused Claimant to feel extremely uncomfortable, abused and traumatized,” the claim reads. “As Fagundes continued to act improperly (despite Claimant’s many requests for Fagundes to stop), Claimant felt increasingly helpless and hopeless.” ....

KC District Attorney Fagundes accused of sexual harassment


Kings County District Attorney Keith Fagundes has been accused of sexual harassment by a male Kings County employee, according to a government claim filed earlier this month. 
The claim alleged that the misconduct began when the employee was living in an apartment next to Fagundes home and reportedly occurred while the employee was going through a divorce.
 
Fagundes began to repeatedly and inappropriately make unwanted sexual remarks to Claimant and began to send Claimant numerous unsolicited sexual comments, innuendos, memes, and photographs. (Despite Fagundes requests/demands that Claimant delete these messages, Claimant has saved approximately 5,000 text messages from Fagundes.), the claim states. ....

Salas, LPD honor legacy of Officer Jonathan Diaz


Diaz was killed in the line of duty in 2019, while responding to a domestic violence call.
Because of Officer Diaz’s intervention, he was able to save the life of a pregnant woman and get her to safety before the situation escalated. The ceremony was also held in recognition of Crime Victims Rights week with other families who have been impacted by crime.
“Officer Diaz was a true hero who showed the utmost bravery and selflessness, even in the face of grave danger,” said Assemblymember Salas.
“Officer Diaz’s actions helped save the lives of a pregnant mother by putting himself in harm s way during her time of need. We must work together to end domestic violence and the tragedy it can bring upon our families. I am glad that the community came together to honor the legacy of Officer Diaz during National Crime Victims Rights Week with a tree dedication to ensure that his service and legacy lives on,” he continued. ....
