With a Memorial Day weekend pickleball tournament, Granville High School wrapped up its annual “Pennies for Patients/Hero Squad” fundraising drive to help in the fight against childhood blood cancers.
Granville Schools educator JR Wait, who teaches American Government at Granville High School, said the school has been engaging in the effort for many years.
This year’s effort was expected to raise approximately $20,000, significantly exceeding the $15,000 original goal, Wait said.
The Granville Schools effort is, he said, is one of the most successful such fund-raising efforts within the State of Ohio. Monies raised go to Central Ohio Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support patients, families, doctors and researchers in the battle against childhood blood cancers. ....
