The Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO) has welcomed recommendations from a cross-party group of UK MPs that would improve the process of exporting seafood to the EU, it said.

Some European manufacturers will give up on exporting food products to Britain once the UK starts to enforce checks at the border this autumn, a top trade association chief has said.
Karin Goodburn, director-general of the Chilled Food Association, said continental food manufacturers have been put off after witnessing British companies’ struggles with the new regulations. ....

Parliament’s Efra committee said the major barriers to trade could see meat and seafood jobs exported to the EU
The government has been urged by MPs to adopt a pragmatic approach in discussions with the EU in a bid to reduce the red tape faced by British seafood and meat exporters.
In a new report, the Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee said the “substantive” and costly barriers to trade since Brexit risked rendering small seafood and meat export businesses “unviable” and could lead to factories and jobs relocating to the EU. ....
