Close Races in Jacksonville, South Jacksonville Could Have Different Outcome After Thursday Ballot Count

Close races in Morgan County could have different results come Thursday. Following the close of last night’s results, there remain over 100 mail-in and nursing home votes left to be counted in Morgan County.
Morgan County Clerk Jill Waggener says due to the unusually higher number of write-in candidates this year, her office will be verifying those votes Thursday morning to ensure accuracy. She says the same holds true for the absentee and nursing home ballots.

All of the counts as of right now are unofficial. We do have 105 vote by mail and nursing home ballots still to count which will be done tomorrow morning when I have a set of new election judges and my election specialist in the courthouse. ....

Hearing Set for Next Week in Manker Suit to Restore Name to Ballot

A hearing date has been set to determine if a candidate for South Jacksonville Village President will be returned to the ballot.
During a telephonic conference this morning, Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Chris Reif set a hearing for next week in the suit filed by Village President candidate Tyson Manker, against the Village of South Jacksonville’s Electoral Board.
On Monday attorneys for the Electoral Board filed a motion to push back the hearing to next Thursday, February 18
th at 10:00 am. Judge Reif set the hearing for next Wednesday, February 17
th at 2:00 pm in Morgan County Court. ....
