Winter Reading Challenge: Books Like Us
Jan. 1-Feb. 20. Billerica Public Library invites residents to join us and participate in Beanstack’s Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Simon & Schuster. Books Like Us encourages readers to picture themselves as part of this wonderful journey of reading!

David Carroll’s love of theater began at the age of 10 when his late father, Ford executive Bill Carroll, took him to see the theatrical production of “Guys and Dolls.” It was Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, his boyhood pal whom he worked alongside until retiring in 2018 and who came to see David in a local production of that same show not long after, who nudged him to blend his love of theater and Detroit.
The end result: The Nicely Theatre Group, a nonprofit company Carroll launched last January to stage theatrical productions. He’s self-financing the venture and hopes to inspire theater-goers (and online viewers in this pandemic world).

It s Shakespeare like you ve never seen.technically, heard.it performed before as Birmingham Village Players (BVP) member Marcus Laban of Warren spins the tale of The Two Gentlemen of Verona into an audio drama created in the heyday of radio. The premise is that we discover these lost tapes in the vaults of our theatre, explained Laban. After restoring them to the best of our ability, we ve dropped them on our YouTube channel for all to enjoy.
