A Dandenong rider is set to broaden her horizons on the Great Vic Bike Ride for the first time.
Caroline Overbeek first took up recreational riding just over a year ago during Covid-19.
She often cycles 40 kilometres on the Dandenong Creek Trail, stopping for a break at a ice-creamery at the halfway-point.
In November, she’s set to click up a gear for the Great Vic Bike Ride by joining 3000 riders on more than 500 kilometres through the Grampians, the Art Silos and other Western Victorian sights.
“I’ve known of the Great Vic Bike Ride since I was little but always thought it was for the more experienced cyclist,” Ms Overbeek said. ....

A woman fell more than 200 feet to her death on Saturday after posing for a photo at a cliff in Australia, according to reports.
The woman was identified as Rosy Loomba, 38, who had been visiting Grampian National Park s Boroka Lookout in Victoria with one of her children and her husband, Australia s 9News reported.
Police said the mother climbed past safety barriers to pose on a rock for a photo when she tripped over the edge and plummeted about 262 feet down the cliff face.

A woman has died after falling off an over 200-foot cliff in Australia, where she had been attempting to take a photo.
Multiple outlets, including Australia s 9News, have identified the woman as 38-year-old Rosy Loomba, who had been visiting Grampian National Park s Boroka Lookout in Victoria, Australia, with one of her children and her husband.
According to 9News, Loomba tripped after climbing over safety barriers to get the shot and fell to her death in front of her family around 3 p.m. local time on Saturday. The outlet further reports that witnesses could hear her screaming but were unable to help. ....
