NORMAN Police conducting a murder investigation say the decomposed body of a woman with special needs was found inside a container in the basement of a home about three years after she went missing. 
Margarita Sandoval was 19 years old when family first reported her missing in 2018. 
Based on a tip, investigators discovered Sandovol’s decomposing body in a residential basement at 715 W Lindsey St.  
Detectives interviewed Miguel Munoz at the home, according to an affidavit for a search warrant. 
Munoz told detectives he moved into the home in 2019, and allowed a friend, Octavio Sanchez, 34, to store items in the basement.  ....

Seventy-eight Oklahomans living at the Oaklawn Retreat in Jacksonville, Ill., boarded a train one day in 1895.
They were headed back to their home state, the young prairie town of Norman, and the new private sanitarium that would care for them.
The first patient, a woman from Woodward County, was admitted on June 15, 1895. That was the beginning of what is now known as Griffin Memorial Hospital, on the city’s near east side. ....

Norman man charged with assault, robbery, burglary

A Norman man has been charged with five felonies, including one count each of first-degree burglary and robbery by force or fear, and three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Domanic Jermaine Turner, 41, was charged Jan. 4 in Cleveland County District Court.
According to a court affidavit, a Norman Police officer reported around 9:12 p.m. Jan. 3 to Riverbend Apartments and spoke with three women, one of whom had multiple stab wounds to her leg and torso.
One woman said Turner broke her apartment window at Ashton Place Apartments. The women fled together in a vehicle, but Turner followed and hit the back of the car. They stopped at Riverbend Apartments, where Turner hit the car again and blocked the driver from exiting. ....
