No candidates on ballot for Colrain Selectboard seat

COLRAIN Write-in votes will likely decide the town’s next Selectboard member, as there are no candidates on the ballot running for the position in Monday’s election.
Polls will be open from noon to 7 p.m. at the Town Offices. Wearing masks and practicing social distancing protocols will be required.
Mark Thibodeau, who has been on the Selectboard for 12 years, is not running for re-election this year.
“I think it’s time to give someone else a turn at it,” Thibodeau said.
However, no one is on the ballot for the three-year Selectboard term. ....

The Baker-Polito Administration has extended the free wireless hotspot program launched in unserved Massachusetts towns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, benefiting nine Franklin County and North Quabbin communities.
The existing outdoor hotspots will be extended to June 30, 2021, and the state has offered 24 communities the option to add an indoor hotspot for free to provide connectivity in the winter. This expanded effort was made possible by the broadband funding announced in the statewide Economic Recovery Plan, launched Oct. 22. ....
