The lives of hundreds of sick, neglected, abused and/or abandoned animals have been saved through the volunteer efforts of Lauren Hill and Jan Craig Olinger.
The women met while volunteering at Greenville County Animal Care years ago. Today, they help shelter animals through Upstate Foster Link, a Facebook group to facilitate communication among volunteers, rescuers, and potential pet foster parents.
While there are many people locally who work tirelessly on behalf (of animals) and raise money for these animals (myself included), no two people have taken more of a leadership role than Lauren Hill and Jan Craig-Olinger, Julie Horton said. ....

A pair of pups tied the knot in a fundraiser for a South Carolina animal shelter.

Sparrow walked down the aisle with help from Greenville County Animal Care and local event planning businesses. The newlyweds’ nuptials benefit the shelter’s “Have a Heart” fund, which provides heartworm treatment to shelter dogs.
“Sassy and Sparrow fell head over tails in love and are tying the knot today. But life has not always been easy for this happy couple,” the shelter explains. “At one time, both were in a shelter and suffered from heartworm disease. Heartworms can be a barrier to adoption and that makes Sassy and Sparrow sad.” ....
