MEMORIAL: The new memorial in Gheluvelt, Belgium
A WAR memorial honouring the sacrifices of Worcestershire’s First World War soldiers has been restored.
The memorial to the men of the Worcestershire Regiment in Gheluvelt, Belgium, has been restored to its proper condition by a team from the county.
Richard Greenway, who offered his services as a landscape architect to re-design the site, said: “Many thanks to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (Mr Steve Hill and team/craftspersons(mason), Mercian Regiment, Councillor Adrian Gregson, Zonnebeke Mayor and Officials, Worcestershire Ambassadors, Mark and Cathy Jackson and Greenway Landscape Architects for finishing the New Gheluvelt / Geluveld Memorial in Belgium with new copings now having been fitted. These will weather to match the central plinth with a little time. ....
