March 01, 2021 × A farmers’ producer organisation, Shri Balaji Farmers Producers Company Ltd, and Kolkata-based multinational conglomerate ITC Ltd have agreed to work together for procurement, aggregation and buyback of quality-IPM and organic cumin (jeera) from small farmers of Jaitran tehsil of Pali district of Rajasthan. This collaboration is an outcome of Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-South Asia Biotechnology Centre’s Biotech Kisan Hub project, which is promoting integrated pest management (IPM) and good agriculture practice (GAP) among cumin farmers in Western Rajasthan. “Our farmers will benefit by this collaboration with ITC and we will get premium price for IPM and organic cumin produced by most backward farmers of our region,” said Rambharos Gurjar, CEO of Shri Balaji FPC, in a statement. ....

The Bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh expressed disappointment with the three MCDs - South, North and East - and noted that retired employees of the corporations had pending medical bills. The court asked how fee can be charged if the corporations do not have a tie-up with the hospitals for cashless treatment. ....

The PIL, filed by Akhil Dilli Prathmik Shikshak Sangh through advocate Ranjit Sharma, also sought directions to the respondents to reimburse the medical bills of the retired employees on account of medical treatment without delay. The matter was listed to come up for hearing before a division bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan today, but was adjourned to January 13 as the bench concerned didn t assemble. ....
