Acorn Park School in Banham. - Credit: Sonya Duncan Ofsted inspectors have said a Norfolk special school has made progress in tackling weaknesses that left parents accusing it of failing their children. After its last full Ofsted inspection in February 2020 Acorn Park School in Banham was rated ‘inadequate’ with the quality of teaching said to be “not good enough”. Inspectors said while children enjoyed attending the school, the quality of the curriculum was “weak”, leaders had “given little thought” to how they progressed, and pupils completed “disconnected tasks and activities” with reading not prioritised. Following a progress monitoring inspection in February 2021, Ofsted inspectors said progress had been made in tackling failings since new leaders had been appointed in September.

So I think it is important that schools focus on that until Easter,” he told Radio Norfolk. “That is what is going to help young people get back to feeling normal again as much as possible.” Schools are balancing reintegrating students back into classes with the need to address learning lost in lockdown.

âIt sounds like a real school againâ said a relieved King's Lynn primary school head of school | Updated: 15:36, 08 March 2021 Children and parents were all smiles yesterday for the long-awaited return to West Norfolkâs schools following strict lockdown measures. While yesterday saw the primary school pupils make their return to the classroom, secondary pupils will have a staggered return this week as school-based testing is introduced. Speaking to the Lynn News after yesterday morningâs school run, Hayley Pink, head of school at St Marthaâs Catholic Primary School in Lynn, said: âIt went really, really well. The kids were so excited to be back with their friends and the parents were happy too.
