ACMG Releases Two Important Secondary Findings Policies: Announces Recommendations for Future SF Reporting and New SF v3.0 List, with Plans to Update SF List Annually

BETHESDA, Md., May 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) has just released an updated policy statement and gene list for the reporting of secondary findings (SF). Together, these two documents update the recommendations for SF reporting and unveil the highly anticipated recommended minimum gene list
(SF v3.0) for reporting secondary findings in clinical exome and genome sequencing. The ACMG also declares its intent to update the SF gene list now annually, with a goal of publishing the updated list each January.

SANTA FE — New Mexico s Democratic governor has signed economic relief legislation that provides $600 rebates to low-income workers and a tax holiday for restaurants that have been hobbled by aggressive pandemic health restrictions.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on March 3 signed two bills that are part of an ambitious economic recovery package. New Mexico state finances and trust funds are rebounding amid a surge in oil production and prices, along with a boost from 2020 federal relief to state and local government, businesses, the unemployed, school districts and tribal governments.
States including New Mexico are not waiting on more federal help as they approve coronavirus aid packages for residents and business owners devastated by the economic fallout from the pandemic. ....

Wyoming state senate committee has advanced to the full Senate a bill to repeal the state’s death penalty.
After taking testimony from witnesses including the state public defender’s office, family members of murder victims, a death-row exoneree, anti-death-penalty activists, religious organizations, and a national expert on capital punishment, the all-Republican Senate Revenue Committee voted 4-1 on March 4, 2021 to pass Senate File 150. The vote marked the second time in three years that a senate committee had approved a bill to abolish the death penalty. In 2019, a bill sponsored by
House Majority Whip Jared Olsen (R ­– Cheyenne), passed the house and was reported out of the Senate Judiciary Committee with a 4-0 vote before being defeated in an 18-12 Senate vote. ....
