Florida has decided to opt-in to a new unemployment program that will be an economic boost for those who were self-employed. The new program, Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC), is outlined in the COVID relief bill signed Sunday. MEUC will pay claimants up to an extra $100 per week. The new program is for people just like Christine Egitto who is an independent contractor who organized large corporate events. “I am a hybrid,” Egitto said. “I have both the W2s and 1099s. When I sent them to DEO, they didn’t acknowledge my 1099s, just my W2s.” ....
