Going wild, experts continue preservation of endangered species

Among them are the state Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy.
“There is a pretty complex effort to protect rare species in Michigan,” said Kristin Wildman, the acting endangered species coordinator of DNR’s Wildlife Division.
One of the species most recently removed from the state’s threatened and endangered species list is a bluish and yellow-colored bird called the Kirtland’s warbler. Native to Michigan, the Kirtland’s warbler migrates and winters in the South, Wildman said. ....
