YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan Following their rollout at five stateside military bases, vending machines that sell wigs, eyelashes and ethnic hair products may be coming to Army and Air Force exchanges overseas.
Beauty product vending machines by Sugar Intoxicated, a company based out of Williamsburg, Va., were installed this year at Lackland Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston in Texas; Forts Lee and Belvoir in Virginia; and Fort Jackson, S.C.
Sugar Intoxicated and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service are eying more locations, including several overseas, based on the machines success stateside, AAFES spokesperson Chris Ward told Stars and Stripes via email Wednesday. ....

The pandemic has helped speed up some efforts to make shopping more convenient for military store customers.
The newest: The online shopping/store pickup program has been added to 20 more Navy Exchange locations.
There are now 28 locations where the Pick/Up Program is available, including two overseas locations the Navy Exchange locations in Yokosuka, Japan and Guam. Pick/Up is available at about one-third of the Navy Exchange locations in the continental U.S. Officials hope to have the service at 94 Navy Exchange main store locations by the end of 2021, said Kristine Sturkie, a spokeswoman for Navy Exchange Service Command. That’s about one-third of their stores. ....

New restrictions threaten some US food shipments to commissaries, exchanges in Europe

Military families in Europe may see shortages of items ranging from baby formula to pet food on their military stores’ shelves due to newly enforced European Union restrictions on food imports to military bases.
Commissary and exchange officials say they are monitoring shipments. There have been no impacts on shelves yet, and the distribution centers in Europe keep a 30- to 45-day supply of these items to support their stores. The issue, which just arose in the past week, is caused by newly enforced restrictions imposed by the European Union, industry sources said. ....
