One of the most enthralling storylines of the sporting
summer will open its next chapter on Saturday when Tom Walsh
and Jacko Gill resume their rivalry in the shot-put circle
at the Porritt Classic in Hamilton.
Gill, 26, is
currently riding the crest of a wave with three straight
victories over Walsh and a career-best throw of 21.52m at
the International Track Meet in Christchurch last
weekend.
But he will be wary of the constant threat of
three-time world champion Walsh, who has improved in

Promising teenage middle-distance talent Daniel Roswell
demonstrated his rising ability to secure a memorable 800m
and Lovelock Mile double today at the Lovelock Classic in
Timaru.
The 19-year-old destroyed his previous mile
best by more than seven seconds to take out the feature
event in 4:16.12 before returning to the track just under an
hour later to triumph in the 800m (1:58.00).
In a
highly-competitive mile, Roswell was content to track

WILLIAMSPORT-A Williamsport man who told police his father is the sun and his mother is the moon is in jail after driving off in a police cruiser with a K-9 in a cage in the back.
Not only is Christopher Dryden, 39, accused of taking the cruiser, he is charged with driving it while his license was suspended.
Dryden is accused of going to the locked door of police headquarters in City Hall on Dec. 23 and via the intercom telling an officer about his mother and father. ....

The Georgia National Guard honored five retirees during a retirement ceremony, Dec. 12, 2020, at Clay National Guard Center in Marietta, Georgia. U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Konata Crumbly, director of the joint staff, presided over the event.
The Georgia National Guard presented the retirement ceremony virtually on Facebook Live in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
“It is always great to celebrate American heroes,” said Crumbly. “That’s what you have with these five individuals here.”
