Christchurch's FlowerFest to host raffle to raise money for charities

THE ORGANISER of a flower show in Christchurch is appealing for donations to a raffle in order to keep the event going.
FlowerFest have announced that the event has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Although FlowerFest does not have a recognised charity status, the event supports a different charity every year.
Founder Glenda Stansbury is looking to reach out to businesses in the hope of raising much needed funds for two local charities.
She said: “Unfortunately this is the second year we have been unable to run FlowerFest in Christchurch due to Covid 19. ....

Former Christchurch Borough Council chief executive made Freeman
A TOWN clerk and chief executive of the now defunct Christchurch Council has been made a Freeman of the Borough.
The honour was bestowed on Michael Turvey by members of Christchurch Town Council last night Mr Turvey joined the authority in 1995.
He was instrumental in raising standards with an emphasis on delivering first-class services to residents.
Under his leadership, the borough achieved some of the highest customer satisfaction ratings.
With Alan Breakwell, Chief Executive of EDDC, he initiated the ‘shared services’ working with East Dorset.
After retirement he stayed in Christchurch, becoming deputy chairman of the Christchurch Community Partnership, serving as Chairman of the Governors of Grange School for many years, and now a member of the Board of the Twynham Learning Multi-Academy Trust, comprising six primary and secondary schools local to Christchurch. ....
