A magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck near Gilroy on Sunday evening, apparently leaving no significant damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey detected the quake at 5:38 p.m. with an epicenter 5.6 miles northeast of Gilroy, and about 30.5 miles southeast of San Jose. The quake had a depth of about 3.7 miles, and was east of the Calaveras fault line.
Over the past week, there has been one other earthquake above magnitude 3.0 within 100 miles of this area, according to The Chronicle’s earthquake tracker.
South Bay residents reported feeling the tremor on social media. The USGS said the quake was felt in San Martin, Morgan Hill, Hollister and Salinas. ....

Latinx seniors in Santa Clara County are the most at-risk community from COVID-19 but the least vaccinated, so local leaders are asking for community help.
On Thursday, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, County Supervisor Cindy Chavez and Gardner Health Services CEO Reymundo Espinoza held a virtual briefing encouraging residents to volunteer and help inform and assist residents eligible for the vaccine.
Spanish-speaking volunteers would be the most needed, Liccardo said, so that they could communicate effectively with the Latinx community. ....

The COVID-19 vaccine rollout has been difficult and is taking longer than expected, but finally Santa Clara County officials say they are seeing notable progress.
On Monday, the county announced that more than half of residents 75 years and older and 43.7 percent of those 65 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
This brings the county s total to 232,761 residents partially or fully vaccinated, constituting 14.5 percent of the county s population eligible for getting the vaccine (those 16 years and older).
County officials said this new milestone reflects strong progress toward their goal to get 85 percent of those 16 and older vaccinated by Aug. 1 of this year. ....
