Coronavirus: Bladen's case count for January just shy of equaling first five months combined

ELIZABETHTOWN Bladen County has nearly as many coronavirus cases reported this month as was reported in its first five months combined.
The Health Department said Thursday 38 cases have been identified as positive, pushing to 714 the total in this month’s reports. Bladen reported its first case on the night of April 2 and had 716 by the Aug. 31 report.
Twenty-six recoveries were also logged, and 13 people are hospitalized. The active case count rose to 300.
In January reports, Bladen County has logged nine deaths, 714 cases and 611 recoveries. Since the pandemic began, there have been 33 deaths, 2,557 cases and 2,224 recoveries.
On the vaccination report, Bladen has had 282 people completed the series of two doses and given 2,915 first doses. ....

Coronavirus: Bladen County fatalities increase by two; cases, recoveries each up by 14

ELIZABETHTOWN Bladen County has recorded two coronavirus fatalities, and each showed up in the postal ZIP code for Elizabethtown and White Lake.
The state Department of Health and Human Services and the county Health Department revealed the information in their daily updates Tuesday. There were also 14 new cases and 14 recoveries logged. Hospitalizations are up to 14.
In January reports, Bladen County has logged eight deaths, 652 cases and 554 recoveries. Since the pandemic began, there have been 32 deaths, 2,495 cases and 2,167 recoveries.
In the evening report on clusters and outbreaks from DHHS, the outbreak report included Elizabethtown Health and Rehab. The facility now lists one death and five cases among residents, and 16 cases among staff. Also on the outbreak report is West Bladen Assisted Living, which remains listed with seven cases among staff. ....

ELIZABETHTOWN Three Bladen County commissioners have reponded in writing to an agenda item removed prior to the Jan. 19 meeting.
The item was a public hearing for the purpose of naming a bridge in honor of a firefighter killed in the line of duy, the late Ron Allen Jr.
The following are words as written by commissioners Dr. Ophelia Munn-Goins, Arthur Bullock and Michael Cogdell, which came to the Bladen Journal on Saturday evening.

Coronavirus: Two more fatalities recorded in Bladen County; active cases lowest in two weeks

ELIZABETHTOWN Two more people have died in Bladen County in connection to the coronavirus.
The Health Department included the information in its daily update on Friday. The fatalities are the fifth and sixth reported in January, the most of any month, and bring to 30 the total since the pandemic began. The total for the ZIP code of Elizabethtown and White Lake also increased by two on the state report.
The county totals increased the number of recoveries by 58 to 2,051, and the number of cases by 34 to 2,417. Hospitalizations remained at 13. Active cases dropped to 336, the lowest total since 328 on Jan. 9 almost two weeks ago. ....
