CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will make a complete return to full services on Monday, Aug. 2. Along with that will come a host of new programs including additional story times, new adult DIY programs and open studios, family craft times, a weekly LEGO program, Sunday Funday events and more.
Things kick off this week in a soft launch of sorts with the Scholastic Book Fair, Monday, July 19-Friday, July 23, according to a news release. The book fair is open daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. ....

Public Library's summer reading program back in-person, begins June 7


Clarksville NowThe Clarksville-Montgomery library begins its Tails and Tales summer reading program June 7.
CLARKSVILLE, TN – Readers of all ages will explore the animal kingdom this summer as the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library presents “Tails and Tales” as its summer reading program theme.
Educational activities for all ages include songs, games, crafts, art projects, science and engineering experiments and more. This year’s summer reading program will include hybrid offerings and in-person story times, among other activities.
New to this year’s program are two weekly events at the Downtown Commons on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays, the Commons will host an in-person story time at 10 a.m. ....

Montgomery County awaits stimulus funds before approving projects


Montgomery County budget approvals for a new north Clarksville public library branch and improvements to Stokes Field headline a list of projects on hold, pending word on an anticipated $40.5 million in federal stimulus funding.
In all, the county has identified 16 capital projects this springtime budget preparation season that could be funded with federal stimulus money  at least in part  rather than with county taxpayer dollars.
But the unknownsin play with stimulus payout have placed projects on hold.
What we think we know today is the amount that we will receive, said County Mayor Jim Durrett.  It will be in two payments and there is a deadline on when the money must be spent. ....
