A North Carolina man was pronounced dead Saturday after a single-vehicle crash late Friday night near Chesnee.
Joshua Odell Greene, 35, of U.S. Highway 221-A, Mooresboro, N.C., was found unresponsive in his wrecked pickup truck in the yard of a residence in the 1600 block of Cliffside Highway at about 1 p.m. Saturday, according to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fowler said Greene was at an establishment near where the crash took place until about 11 p.m. Friday, and that the accident likely happened shortly after he left.
According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, Greene was northbound on Cliffside Highway when his pickup went off the right side of the road near Hawkins Reynolds Road and struck a tree head-on. He was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said. ....
