BOSTON In a show of solidarity with Asian American communities in the wake of increasing racism, Cardinal Seán P. O Malley celebrated Mass on May 3 in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Racism and violence against Asians in the United States has increased since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. More recently, a series of mass shootings on March 16 in the Atlanta, Georgia, area resulted in the deaths of eight people, six of them Asian women. Patrick Krisak, director of faith formation and missionary discipleship, said the idea for the Mass came out of listening sessions with members of the archdiocese s Asian communities. ....

Tobin announced he has approved that St. Catherine and St. Francis of Assisi parishes be merged canonically into SS. Rose and Clement Parish, effective July 1, 2021. The Diocese announced Monday that, as of June 30, 2021. Father Pierre Plante will retire as pastor of St. Catherine and St. Francis of Assisi parishes, and believes that merging his two congregations and their resources into SS.
