Did you know Murfreesboro was the state capital from 1818 till 1825?
The Tennessee General Assembly met only every other year in the
early days – after all Tennessee was still a very young state having
been established only 25 years earlier.
Knoxville was the first center of state government from 1796 till 1812
when the general assembly moved to Nashville (1812-1817).
1817 saw the capital return to Knoxville, but it wasn’t long before the
general assembly moved to the geographic center of the state -
Murfreesboro.

1 dead after SunRail train collides with vehicle in Kissimmee

LAKE MARY, Fla. - The Kissimmee Police Department on Thursday evening responded to a fatal traffic incident involving a train and one vehicle.
A 911 call came in at approximately 6:15 p.m. on March 11 after a car heading westbound was hit by a SunRail train on East Vine Street.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Westbound lanes of East Vine Street were shut down between Michigan and Orange Blossom Trail for several hours pending while authorities conducted an investigation.
The identify of the deceased was not immediately released.
