East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services has hired a service dog named Indie to support its first responders emotional needs.
BATON ROUGE - Many first responders in Louisiana s capital city are often faced with high pressure circumstances that require quick thinking, an incredible level of skill, and the ability to compartmentalize.
But even the most competent emergency workers will, at times, find themselves shaken by an especially harrowing situation.

1 dead in construction accident in Zachary, EMS officials say

One person is dead after a construction accident in Zachary, emergency officials said.Â
The accident took place in the 5900 block of Carpenter Road, according to East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Mike Chustz. The person died at the scene, he said.
Chief David McDavid with the Zachary Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and no further details were available.
