Woman Hit the In Face With 10 Lbs of Packaged Meat During Fight

I guess one woman found out where the beef really was the hard way? In what could be one of the headlines of the year, police say a fight broke out in the potato chip aisle at a Walmart location Tuesday afternoon. It is uncertain what exactly the history was between the two combatants, but PIX 11 is reporting that a woman was arrested after she allegedly smacked another woman in the face with a 10-pound log of prepackaged meat.
Police are saying though that one of the woman had an order of protection against the other, and had been former neighbors. When the two happen to run into each other at the East Euclid, Ohio Walmart, the alleged attacker threatened the other woman and her young daughter. Police say the suspect first tried to spit in the face of the victim, and then decided to pull out the big stops by whacking the other woman with the 10-pound piece of meat right in the face. A Tri-State cab driver reported at 5:32 a.m. Sunday she had transported a woman to a home on Waterford Road, Unity Township, and when they arrived the woman got out of the cab and did not pay her. Deputies spoke to the woman, who then paid the driver.
Deputies and highway patrol troopers responded to a Georgetown Road, Knox Township, where a domestic dispute was reported. Both people involved claimed they had only been arguing and there was no domestic violence. The woman signed a refusal to prosecute and the man was given a ride to Minerva.
A possible fight was reported in the area of Washington Street and Jackson Alley in Washingtonville at 1:08 a.m., April 24. Two intoxicated women told deputies they had been outside and yelling. They were told to stay inside for the rest of the night. ....

University officials say there will be four separate ceremonies:
83 graduate students will receive master s degrees on Friday, May 7 at 7 p.m.
599 undergraduate students will receive their degrees on Saturday, May 8 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 9 at 9 a.m.
Commencement will take place at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium on East Euclid Avenue. The university expects 2,800 guests over the four ceremonies. More details can be found on Stetson s graduation website.
We are pleased to be able to host commencement at the stadium once again, said Julie Hunter, director of University Events for Stetson. Last year, we were able to host commencement on Stetson Green in December, and we are able to increase in-person participation at the stadium. ....

One of the few advantages of being retired during a pandemic is that there is time to reflect on people one has known and on events worth remembering. I still get out in the car (the dog wants a ride every day, even if it’s only to make a newspaper swap). Each time I go down East Euclid past the darkened fraternity buildings, a memory flashes of President Duncan Wimpress taking me on a campus tour. It was a nice gesture on his part, because he didn’t have to do it, but he might have sensed that I hadn’t planned to stay long historians being in demand, my dissertation advisor was urging me to apply for university jobs. In any case, it was 1966 or soon thereafter, and his new library (the Hewes Library) and science building (Haldeman-Thiessen) were still in the planning stages, but the fraternity complex was there. ....
