FREEPORT The Freeport Noon Kiwanis Club will meet at noon April 13 at the Beltline Café & Catering, 325 W. South St.
Masks will be required when not eating, and seating will be socially distanced. Attendance via Zoom will also be available.
Tom Willis, Illinois-Eastern Iowa district chair of the Kiwanis Children s Fund, will be the guest speaker. The foundation s mission is to develop resources that transform the goodwill of Kiwanis members into children programs. The fund provides grants for Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs, club and district service projects and disaster relief. The fund also provides support for global health initiatives including the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus and iodine deficiency disorders conducted in conjunction with UNICEF. ....

SIDNEY Founded on Nov. 17, 1920, the Sidney Kiwanis have been serving the local community for 100 years.
“We look forward to celebrating with a 100th anniversary banquet later this year if the pandemic allows,” said President Jim Cole.
His report continues:
2020 proved to be a challenging year as we had to cancel our Annual Pancake Day due to COVID. This is one of our three main fundraisers each year. Our sponsorship campaign was completed before covid started. The Annual Labor Day Chicken Bar-B-Que was extremely successful as we sold 2,000 dinners before 3 PM. Much thanks to the community for supporting this annual event. ....
