Lemon Grove school board president Larry Loschen resigns


LEMON GROVE 
Lemon Grove School District governing board President Larry Loschen announced his resignation from the school board on June 30.
Loschen, who has served on the board of the 4,000-student district since a 2009 appointment, and whose term was to expire in November 2022, did not provide a reason for resigning in his formal letter to Paul Gothold, superintendent of the San Diego County Board of Education, and to Lemon Grove Superintendent Erica Balakian.
His resignation was effective July 6.
In an email to The San Diego Union-Tribune, Loschen wrote: “It has been my pleasure to serve the students of Lemon Grove for the past 12 years. As I step away from my role on the Governing Board, I do so knowing that my ongoing commitment to our students’ academic achievement and success, will continue under the exceptional leadership of Superintendent Balakian and the outstanding Cabinet and Management teams she has brought together.” ....

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The City of Bakersfield plans to improve public safety during its monthly Citizens Oversight Committee meeting Monday.
The Bakersfield Police Department has proposed adding nearly 30 more sworn officers, 17 civilian positions and equipment that would total about $10.5 million in taxpayer money.
The Bakersfield Fire Department is proposing adding equipment that would total nearly half a million dollars.
The Oversight Committee, which was formed to scrutinize Measure N taxpayer dollars and how it will be spent, will also hear proposals from the city s recreation and parks department and human resources. ....

The college district received the best rating possible in an independent audit of its general obligation bond expenditures.
The Santa Clarita Community College District’s Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee accepted the audit results, which showed that for the 13th year in a row, the district has properly accounted for all bond expenditures and expended them in accordance with the projects approved by voters in Measure E ballot measure.
