Can you believe that “The Book of Mormon” musical is 10 years old?
It’s true. It has been a decade since Elder Price (Andrew Rannells) first took to the Broadway stage to joyously sing about getting his own planet as his nerdy companion, Elder Cunningham (Josh Gad), lovingly lied his way to convert after convert in the jungles of Uganda.
Since its March 24, 2011, premiere at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre after some preview performances the bawdy but beloved musical went on to earn nine Tony Awards and pack playhouses across the globe, including in the heart of Mormonism, Salt Lake City. ....

5 of my favorite moments from spending 48 minutes with the Holland family

RootsTech Family Discovery Day has looked very similar for years thousands of eyes on the massive stage at the Salt Palace, a beloved Church leader or leaders sharing an inspiring message, and a broadcast enabling those not in attendance physically to experience a taste of connection.
But in 2021, Family Discovery Day looked different. The in-person audience for Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s and Sister Patricia Holland’s remarks was small. But the members of that audience included those who are most important to the Hollands their own children.
The backdrop of Family Discovery Day is southern Utah, and through video, photographs, and a tour around St. George, we see places and hear memories that shaped the family. ....

Latter-day Saints in the Democratic Republic of Congo celebrate their temple in the capital of Kinshasa.
The plus side includes:
• The announcement of 14 new Latter-day Saint temples, including the first such edifices in the United Arab Emirates (also the first in the Middle East), mainland China, Kiribati and Vanuatu. Utah, meanwhile, will be gaining a 24th and 25th temple, in Syracuse and Lindon. Church President Russell M. Nelson has announced 49 temples since taking the faith’s helm in January 2018.
• Major advances in the translation of scriptures and other materials, including plans in 2021 to publish churchwide magazines for adults (the Liahona), teens (For the Strength of Youth) and younger children (the Friend) in scores of languages. ....
