PITTSBURG, Kan. Last week, Pittsburg State University announced its recommendations to the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) on the future of various academic programs including recommendations to discontinue several of them.
On Monday, the university issued a revised press release “that better explains the situation and gives a more complete look at the changes,” it said, noting that its announcement last Friday “led to many questions and concerns.”
Out of 25 of PSU’s “programs” a word that was changed to “majors/emphases/degrees” in the updated release “that have been identified in the past year as having a low enrollment and a small number of annual graduates,” the original release said, “the following are on the list to discontinue: Graphic Design; Clinical Science/Medical Lab Tech; Spanish Language and Literature; Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics and Hi ....

A Las Cruces man allegedly told police that he killed a man Saturday because he believed the man played a part in his son’s death.
Santiago Rascon, 71, is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence.
Rascon allegedly admitted to fatally shooting Edgar Segovia, 29, while Segovia sat in a vehicle in the 4100 block of Broadview Road.
Las Cruces police were called to the scene about 11 a.m., where they found Segovia – a 2020 New Mexico State University graduate – lying on the driveway in front of a sports utility vehicle. Court documents indicate Segovia sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including to the upper, right side of his body. ....

New Mexico man has reportedly confessed to shooting and killing a teen who he claims was involved in his son’s murder months earlier.
