Study to assess the health needs of 29 North Central Mass. communities

Heywood Healthcare and UMass Memorial Health Care are joining to help study the health needs of 29 cities and towns across northern Central Massachusetts.
The two hospital networks are working with the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission on a community health needs assessment it conducts every three years, a process relying on residents filling out an anonymous survey.
Residents will be asked if they use a primary care physician for routine care, and how positively or negatively they view the effect on health of hospitals, community recreational assets, transportation networks or school systems. Other questions ask about how they receive their medical information or how common health issues, from cancer to mental health to substance abuse, have improved or worsened in the past few years. The study is expected to identify any new challenges stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. ....

• Drive-through testing at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital’s Leominster campus weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A doctor’s order should be filed with the hospital lab before a test is performed. All patients must call (978) 466-2627 to register before getting in line.
• The former Sears Auto Center at The Mall at Whitney Field, for Reliant Medical Group patients only.
• ReadyMED at 241 North Main St. (Route 12), by appointment, only after a medical exam that deems it appropriate to perform a COVID-19 test. ....

Roach named permanent president of HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital

UMass Memorial Health Care announced that Steve Roach has been officially named the president of UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital in Leominster after serving as interim president since October 2019.
Roach will continue to serve as president of UMass Memorial Marlborough Hospital as well.
“Steve has been an invaluable leader within the UMass Memorial Health Care system for the past seven years,” said Robert Paulhus Jr., chairman of the Hospital Board of Trustees. “He brings immense experience in health care to the position and has certainly shown his expertise leading HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital through such challenging times as the coronavirus pandemic and recovering from financial losses over the last two years. His work at Marlborough Hospital since 2013 helped stabilize that organization and he has brought that same tenacity for improvement to HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital. City of Leominster to offer four days of free testing for COVID

The City of Leominster is offering four days of free testing for the virus that causes COVID-19.
A mobile testing location will be set up at Doyle Field on Monday, Dec. 21 and Monday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday, Dec. 18 and Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 2-7 p.m. Proof of insurance is not required.
Anyone wishing to be tested for COVID-19 should use Main Street (Route 13) to enter onto Priest Street. The testing will occur next to the tennis courts, and involve two 10-second nose swabs. People being tested will leave their name and contact information so they can receive their test results within a few days. ....
