Tony J. Sanchez


    Mr. Sanchez was born to Antonio Geronimo and Lydia Sanchez on May 9, 1954.
    He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Parish and was a member of the San Juan de los Caballeros Council at Ohkay Owingeh, a fourth degree Knight at the Arroyo Seco Assembly, an associate member of St. John the Baptist St. Vincent de Paul Society, a member of Local Union #16.
    Mr. Sanchez was a laborer foreman by trade and began his construction career with Saunders Construction, then transitioned to Davis & Associates. He worked construction over 45 years.
    After retiring, he worked as a security escort for Compa Industries, escorting visitors at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He retired from Compa Industries in 2009 to dedicate his time to his cattle and ranch operations. ....

Thomas "Tom" Pointon…December 18, 2020 : The Prowers Journal


Longtime Bent County resident, Thomas (Tom) Pointon, passed away on December 18, 2020, at the age of 90. Tom was born in Bent County as the youngest child of five, to James (Jim) Pointon and Amy Ham Pointon.
He graduated at the age of 16 from Bent County High School in 1947. After attending Colorado State University for one year, he was called home to help on the family ranch as his older brother had become ill. In November 1950 he joined the United States Navy and served until August of 1954 as a machinist’s mate second class. He married Laura Smith on March 28, 1954 in California and returned to farming and ranching in Bent County, Colorado where they raised five children for 23 years at which time, they parted ways. ....
