Only 71K migrants workers given skill training post-Covid- The New Indian Express

NEW DELHI:  Only about 71,000 migrant workers have been provided skill training under a central government initiative, announced in the wake of the migrant crisis last year.  The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) had targeted training 3 lakh migrant workers from 116 districts identified across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Odisha, MP and Jharkhand. 
According to government data, over 1.08 crore migrant workers had returned to their home states when the first Covid-mandated lockdown was announced in March 2020. These migrants mainly belonged to six states, with Uttar Pradesh receiving over 32 lakh migrant workers followed by Bihar, which saw over 15 lakh migrant workers return home.  ....

Gujarat among five states reporting low LPG usage

NEW DELHI: More than half of the women in large parts of rural India Gujarat included continue to use unclean kitchen fuel five years after a Central flagship scheme was launched. This is despite the fact that in 2019, the country achieved the Central target of supplying 8 crore free LPG connections to poor households.
A National Family Health Survey (NFHS) says that in five states Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal and Gujarat more than 50 per cent of rural households do not use clean fuel. The survey also says that a large section of rural women is still not using LPG in their kitchens despite having cylinders. ....

Only 30 per cent houses built under PMAY-Urban in last six years


NEW DELHI:  Only 26% of funds sanctioned under three different verticals of the government’s flagship PM Awas Yojana (Urban) has been utilised in last six years of its implementation and as a result, only 30% of the sanctioned houses could be constructed during the period.
Only 25% of the sanctioned funds have been spent under In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR), while the percentage for Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) segment is 26%. Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) vertical also showed similar pattern with only 27% of sanctioned budget spent.
Poor fund utilisation reflected in delivery of houses. According to the data from Ministry of Housing (till mid-March 2021), only 5,16,764 houses have been delivered under AHP segment against the sanctioned number of 23,31,229. Similarly, 19.53 lakh houses have been constructed under BLC as against the sanctioned 68.69 lakh houses.  ....

Over three-fourth of India's total jabs administered through onsite/walk-in vaccinations

NEW DELHI:  Despite all its ‘Digital India’ push, the Modi government has been unable to make India take the digital route for getting inoculated against Covid-19. More than three-fourth of the total vaccine doses have been administered through onsite/walk-in vaccinations, the Centre has accepted in an affidavit to Supreme Court.
“As on 23.06.2021, out of the 32.22 crore beneficiaries registered on CoWIN, 19.12 crore (nearly 59%) beneficiaries have been registered in the on-site mode,” stated the affidavit submitted last week. “As per the data available on CoWIN as on 23.06.2021, out of the total 29.68 crore vaccine doses recorded on CoWIN, 23.12 crore doses (nearly 78%) have been administered through on-site/walk-in vaccination,” it added. ....
