Eleven Defendants Charged with Murder in Indian Country Published: 15 May 2021 15 May 2021 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Oklahoma has returned separate indictments charging 11 defendants with murder and other various violent crimes arising out of Indian Country. Over the course of a three-day grand jury session in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, trial attorneys with the Justice Department’s Organized Crime and Gang Section, working with and in support of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, obtained the indictments charging the 11 defendants. These indictments followed the reversal or dismissal of state cases as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in McGirt v. Oklahoma. ....
Former Union Official Sentenced for Violent Extortion Details Written by Justice Department Indianapolis, Indiana - An Indiana man and former business agent of Iron Workers Local 395 was sentenced Monday to more than four years in prison for conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act extortion. Thomas Williamson Sr., 70, of Schererville, pleaded guilty on Jan. 24, 2020. According to court documents, Williamson organized and led an assault on a group of non-union ironworkers as part of an attempt to obtain a contract to perform construction work on the Plum Creek Christian Academy, a school affiliated with the Dyer Baptist Church in Dyer, Indiana. In January 2016, Williamson learned that a non-union ironworking company was performing work for the Dyer Baptist Church, which he considered to be in Local 395’s “territory.” On Jan. 6, 2016, Williamson visited the construction site and made threats to the workers to get them to stop work on the ....

Members of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics and Gang Division served a search warrant at the dispensary in the 9000 block of Olive Drive at about 2 p.m., according to the department’s Sgt. Mark Knierim. Deputies seized about 150 pounds of marijuana and more than 1,000 pounds of THC products, as well as three firearms and $70,000 in cash. Investigators also discovered several THC-infused edibles which falsely appeared to be legitimate name-brand chips and candies, Knierim said. ....

Members of the sheriff’s Narcotics and Gang Division served a search warrant at the dispensary on Olive Drive near Bancroft Drive about 2 p.m., according to Sgt. Mark Knierim. Deputies seized about 150 pounds of marijuana and more than 1,000 pounds of THC products, as well as three firearms and $70,000 in cash. Investigators also discovered several THC-infused edibles which falsely appeared to be legitimate name-brand chips and candies, Knierim said. County code compliance officers also discovered several violations in the building and requested that San Diego Gas and Electric cut off power to the property until the violations could be addressed, according to Knierim. ....
