Smart's 'Paint It Forward' campaign serves as mental self-care for DavSur students, teachers

THE ongoing pandemic is wearing down students and teachers who have been struggling to push through with learning in the new normal. At times like these, art becomes a respite for the tired mind and the weary soul. After more than a year of hunkering down in their homes because of limited mobility, the academic community in Davao del Sur sees Smart’s Paint It Forward as an effective way to promote mental wellness among student-artists.
Paint it Forward is a wall mural design contest organized by PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. that aims to involve local artists in advocating the sustainability programs of the community and to serve as therapy for the community that has been fatigued by varying quarantine rules. ....

MUSD now owns 15 properties after purchase of new high school site

In December, MUSD received $3.54 million from Arizona’s School Facilities Board to buy the Cortona property at the southwest corner of Murphy and Farrell roads near the far east edge of the district.
The SFB is also supplying more than $22 million approved by the state Legislature to help build the school.
MUSD closed escrow on the property Dec. 1, and hydrant flow tests began days later to determine design flow and pressure on the site.
Cortona is the latest in a series of land purchases and donations still in district possession that date back to the 1950s. ....
