Student with new piano at Hewett Academy that is part of extra investment into music provision. - Credit: Inspiration Trust Pupils at Norfolk schools are set to benefit from an investment in new instruments to boost music learning. Norwich-based Inspiration Trust is investing in additional music provision to make sure all of its academies have access to high quality pianos, keyboards and digital pianos. The trust has supplied pianos to schools that did not yet have them and is replacing worn-out pianos that were beyond economic repair. Academies that have received pianos include Cobholm Primary Academy, Charles Darwin Primary, Cromer Academy, Hewett Academy, Hethersett Academy and Norwich Primary Academy.

Picture: Inspiration Trust - Credit: Inspiration Trust A number of students at Cromer Academy have been asked to self-isolate after several of them tested positive for coronavirus. The Norwich Road secondary school re-opened on March 8 and is following the government's guidelines of carrying out regular lateral flow tests of staff and students. Darren Hollingsworth, the school's principal, said: "A small number of students tested positive for Covid-19 during our programme of rapid lateral flow testing. We have identified the students who have been in close contact and asked them to self-isolate, in line with government guidance.
Gareth Stevens has been appointed the Inspiration Trust new chief executive. - Credit: Inspiration Trust One of the region's largest academy trusts has announced its new chief executive. Gareth Stevens has been appointed by the Inspiration Trust, which runs 14 schools across Norfolk and Suffolk, succeeding Dame Rachel de Souza who will become the children's commissioner for England on March 1. Previously principal of Hethersett Academy, where he successfully turned the school around from special measures to outstanding within two years, Mr Stevens is currently the trust’s secondary director and provides support to its eight secondary schools. He said: “I am delighted to be appointed as chief executive and look forward to working with our family of schools to positively impact students' lives. I have the benefit of inheriting an extremely strong team from Dame Rachel and am proud to lead 14 schools at the centre of their communities.”

North Norfolk Vikings Swimming Club member Leah Harris was the fastest 17-year-old in the country in 'Level X ' trials held just before the latest lockdown, according to new rankings released by Swim England. Miss Harris's time of 5:28.45 over 16 laps at North Walsham's Victory pool also gave her first ranking in the open category in the eastern region.
Antony Little, executive principal of Hewett Academy, said its testing would enable students, parents and staff to feel confident that no unnecessary risks were being taken. He said: “There was a natural amount of nerves, especially from those who had never had a Covid-19 test before, but I think doing the test in a familiar environment with people they knew and trusted really helped. “We've been so well supported with NHS training and went into this feeling confident about our ability to do this. We had a team of 10 people in the school to make sure it was a quick and safe process to get everyone tested.
