Inspired Energy Plc announces boardroom changes


Outgoing chairman Mike Fletcher guided the company for the past nine years
Inspired Energy PLC (LON:INSE) said non-executive chairman Mike Fletcher will step down at the group’s annual general meeting on June 30.
Fletcher will retire from his position in line with the Corporate Governance Code as he will have served on the board for nine years. 
He will be replaced by Richard Logan who is currently an independent non-executive director of the company.
In turn, Sangita Shah will be appointed as the company’s new independent non-executive director.
Chief executive Mark Dickinson noted that Fletcher’s capital markets experience and deal structuring capability were instrumental in delivering the company’s IPO and its buy-and-build strategy. ....

OPEN LETTER British and Irish trade unions condemn state violence in Colombia


 
Since the latest round of trade union-led national strike mobilisations were initiated on Wednesday April 28, Colombian state forces have committed human rights abuses on a massive scale. 
According to national human rights organisations, state forces have killed at least 18 people, with some reporting up to 37 deaths, and left numerous others with permanent eye injuries. 
There are also several reports of sexual violence committed against detainees, while human rights observers and journalists have been attacked.
 
Following the police killings of up to 13 people during protests in September 2020, Colombia’s Supreme Court found state forces to act with systematic violence towards peaceful protest.  ....

Following growing pressure from the maritime industry, the programme is said to be a first for crew in Europe…
The Belgian government has recently agreed to prioritise COVID-19 vaccines for seafarers on its vessels. It is believed to be the first programme of its kind in Europe.
The development follows calls from the UK Chamber of Shipping and Nautilus International for the UK government to prioritise seafarer vaccination and to establish the UK as a global seafarer vaccination hub, where seafarers of all nationalities can access COVID-19 vaccines.
In a joint letter written in April, Nautilus general secretary Mark Dickinson and UK Chamber of Shipping CEO Bob Sanguinetti wrote: “In many nations, seafarers are not being prioritised for vaccination by their domestic vaccination programmes. Without such prioritisation, the shipping industry will need to develop a global solution for seafarers ....

Singapore crew change ban extended to more countries

After prohibiting crew change for seafarers with recent travel history to COVID-stricken India, Singapore has announced similar measures for those arriving from countries surrounding India.
As informed, the ban concerns
“crew with recent travel history to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka within the last 21 days preceding arrival to Singapore”.
This includes sign-on crew travelling to Singapore by flight as well as sign-off crew from vessels that have called at Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In addition, the ban applies to sign-on crew transiting Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on their connecting flights to Singapore. ....
