Members of the Winters Theatre Company are currently rehearsing for their upcoming virtual production of “In the Beginning: A Lighthearted Look at Creation.” This selection is inspired by humorist Mark Twain’s short story, “Eve’s Diary,” written in 1905.
The audience will join Eve, as they imagine her as a very young woman who wakes up one morning to discover herself the first and only woman in Eden. From her diary, she shares her adventures and misadventures with the other creatures in the garden. Her main theme, of course, concerns her relationship with the other occupant of Eden, Adam. ....

Michael Barbour lived a full and generous life that ended peacefully in his home in Winters on Jan. 7, 2021. Born in 1942 to George and Mae Barbour of Jackson, Mich., he attended MSU, then completed a Ph.D. at Duke University in botany.
Recruited to UC Davis in 1967, he introduced many students to California’s botany. His students went on to transform the documentation of the California landscape.
Beyond academia, Michael performed with the Winters Theatre Company, sang with a Winters folk group and danced with Pam Trokanski’s Parkinson’s dance class. He and his wife owned and ran Classic Video in Winters. ....

Virtual Ten-Minute Play Festival comes to Winters
The Winters Theatre Company continues looking for ways to provide theatrical experiences during the current pandemic. This past fall, WTC produced a Zoom version of “Robin Hood,” allowing actors a chance to interact in a fun and safe way, while giving audiences the opportunity to safely enjoy the show from the comfort of their homes.
Following in the footsteps of that production, WTC is presenting a podcast production for this year’s second annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. First produced in early 2020, right before the pandemic shelter-in-place began, the inaugural Ten-Minute Play Festival featured eight plays with storylines ranging from astronauts in love to a young man coming out about his love of opera music. ....
