AUSTIN Today Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $4,259,659 in Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery funds for the City of Nederland to make flood and drainage improvements.
Hurricane Harvey devastated communities across the Texas Coast, said Commissioner Bush. These recovery funds are critical to improving local infrastructure that will protect lives, homes and businesses from future storms. We continue to work with our partners in communities across the region to leverage these resources efficiently and effectively to benefit Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey.
With these funds, Nederland will replace storm sewer culverts, regrade roadside ditches and install outfall ditches in the area around Babe Ruth Park and also near the intersection of Nederland Avenue and Magnolia Avenue. ....

SARASOTA COUNTY – Since voters overwhelmingly supported a 2018 effort to secure $65 million in funding to extend the Legacy Trail – which runs 12.5 miles south from Culverhouse Nature Park to Center Road in Venice – some south Sarasota County residents felt they were being left behind.
Residents of North Port watched as elected officials fast-tracked the construction of the northern extension. They watched a groundbreaking ceremony for those segments over the summer. They wondered if they would also get a paved trail.
